Adjacent to the 3rd floor bar and restaurant is an amenity terrace for guests of McGavock Street Hotel. Here guests are presented with outdoor seating looking out toward downtown Nashville. A wood deck laid into the surrounding hardscape serves as the main gathering space, where clusters of casual seating can be temporarily moved to host various events, including dinner parties, rooftop yoga, and movie nights. A fireplace centered on this outdoor space offers year-round enjoyment, and masses of plantings that utilize lightweight rooftop soils, provide visual screening to guest rooms and enclose the space. Three feet above this gathering space are a pool and sundeck that take advantage of the rooftop’s sunniest locations. A hot tub enclosed by a large planter with flowering trees create an intimate atmosphere within the larger space. Located off of the fitness center, guests can easily shift their exercise routine outdoors to this adjacent space. On the 4th floor, an additional terrace offers green space and outdoor access to select guest rooms. Overall, each planting area enhances the water absorption of the building, reducing the building’s impact on Nashville’s stormwater system.  At the street level, visitors and passersby enjoy a widened sidewalk with street plantings characteristic of the Nashville Downtown Code.
