MASTER PLANNING / FARM
Gallatin, TN | 2019 start | 60 acres

For their family-owned farm, the clients wanted to think long-term and create a master plan for sustainable and economically productive uses for their land. Research began with taking a detailed inventory of the 60 acre site. Tools such as historic USGS maps, topo and soil data, and Army Corps maps in combination with a thorough in-person investigation of the site gave an initial understanding of the physical conditions of the property, both past and present. Conversations with the client identified values and interests. Understanding local economy began to narrow down possible niches they could fill with a product or service of their own. With an interest in conservation efforts, consulting with biologists and conservation ecologists  facilitated discussions of ecological improvement on the site. Understanding drainage and soils on the site narrowed locations for buildings and began to highlight areas for specific uses.
