Poplar Creek

MASTER PLANNING / RESIDENTIAL / FARM
Nashville, TN | 2017 start (ongoing) | 73 acres

With 200’ of elevation change, Poplar Creek offers a variety of landscape rooms across the site. To identify client needs and priorities, an overall master plan was created. As a result, target project areas were defined with a phased implementation approach. Along key property lines, edges have been planted to resemble a native forest edge, providing a naturalized screen over time. In 2020, portions of field that had been maintained by mowing, was converted into meadow. Through this multi-year process, native wildflowers and grasses will come to inhabit the hillsides, attracting pollinators and reducing the maintenance to 1-2 cuts per year. Additional projects include designing a new barn and plantings, grading a level terrace on which to hold large gatherings with a tent, renovating existing landscape plantings around the house and parking areas, envisioning site-wide circulation, and siting and designing a sleeping cabin to access the best views of the site and the hills beyond.
