Sweeney Hollow Road Homestead

MASTER PLANNING / FARM
Leiper’s Fork, TN | 2018-2019 | 20 acres

A property of woods and pasture, the client wanted to create three 6.5-acre homesteads, two for new homes and one with the existing home on the site. Taking into account the existing topography, natural circulation was determined by walking and driving along the site, finding logical routes. Homesites were located based on sight lines and vegetation, focusing on privacy between neighbors, desirable views, natural features, and suitability for building. The existing home is planned for renovation and drawings include new homestead gardens and outdoor living space that overlook the existing horse pasture. A new driveway lined with red oaks ushers in visitors arriving to this primary residence. Barns adjacent to open pasture on the front two parcels are home to horses in this bucolic landscape. Further up the slope, woods of oak and hickory trees and native wildflowers create a silvan retreat at the peak of this land for the second home and strategic clearing offers long views of the distant hills, while maintaining privacy from the adjacent homes. The rear parcel is nestled in a gully, cradled by woods that open to a quiet piece of open field looking out to farmland behind it.
