To enhance the backyard of this Hillsboro-area residence a new pool deck of cut limestone to match the stone of the existing patio and house. At each end of the pool, a row four cherry trees are underplanted with liriope. Centered on the pool and patio is a cabana outfitted with heaters for the winter and fans for the summer for year-round outdoor space. Boxwoods flank large precast stone steppers interplanted with grasses between the pool and patio, and masses of hydrangea with cherry laurels at the foundation. A side courtyard is surrounded by flowering shrubs and groundcover around steppers and features a Japanese maple. Existing mature trees were preserved throughout. Along the sides, a mixture of evergreens, canopy trees, and flowering trees mimic a woodland edge. At the rear property line, a row of handsome parrotia trees create a dense screen and beautiful backdrop from the patio and pool areas.
