TACK Creative Campus

MIXED-USE INFILL + BROWNFIELD DEVELOPMENT
Nashville, TN | 2017 | 20 acres

The TACK Creative Campus is a 15-acre former landfill situated on 1500’ of frontage along Cumberland River. The plan develops this site for creative studio and artist workspace, an event venue, and hospitality opportunities. A collection of four buildings begins to bridge a gap in the workspace options for the developing artist scene in Nashville and brings positive development to nearby Tennessee State University and surrounding area of The Nations, formerly a predominantly industrial district and now one of the fastest-growing neighborhoods in Nashville. In addition to built maker space, outdoor lawns and a boardwalk provide public gathering space, and native planting brings a healthy ecology back to the once polluted and contaminated site. With a grade change of over 60’, strategic grading and circulation afford tenants and visitors views of and access to the river. Careful building and hardscape placement help to engage a functional floodplain, and protected forested wetland resources bordering the property further support flood management. In keeping with the vision of Nashville’s Greenways Master Plan, TACK is situated to facilitate future greenway routes, further connecting the site to the greater Nashville community.
